Course: Color & Composition
In this six week project students start with creating twelve 5 x 5” abstract gouache color studies on watercolor paper. The studies include an achromatic grey grid based abstraction, two chromatic grey landscape based abstractions (one low key, one high key), two op art inspired muted color studies (one low key, one high key), two fully prismatic abstracted object color studies (one predominately cool and one predominately warm), two color interaction studies and three color inventory studies. Once the studies are finished, the students create covers inspired by an abstract artist for their book and the studies are bound using Japanese stab binding.
